Our Artsmark journey to reach Platinum has featured in Culture Bridge North East’s newsletter.
We have had a great day celebration Children in Need on Friday.
Students have come to school in non-school uniform, this morning, we have been busy making and decorating cakes to make a giant cake and this afternoon, our choir have taken part in a sponsored sing!
We even had a visit from BBC Look North!
Thank you to everyone for their hard work. Fundraising total to follow.
Mrs Irving would like to say thank you to those parents who completed the questionnaire on the transition programme for our current Year 5 students – a 52% return is really good!
We really do value the feedback given and we will be discussing these results with our feeder schools in the Morpeth Partnership at our next meeting in December.
Please remember that if you have any further questions, do not hesitiate to contact school to discuss further.
This year’s NE regional heat of the national competition was a closely fought and particularly challenging contest.
Although Yarm – an independent school – won decisively, each of the next four teams was separated by just one point and nearly every round went to a tie breaker involving a large number of teams.
The rounds on Amphibians, Clocks, Clothing, Escapes, Houses, Knights, Little People, Snakes and Snow & Ice all sounded quite promising – but the questions were tough!
Despite not making the top ten, our teams performed magnificently and enjoyed themselves immensely.
We have high hopes of our Y6 team, who were not at all phased by being two years younger than most of the other competitors and are already planning some strategies for success in next year’s contest!
In PE year 5 and 6 will be doing outdoor football and hockey where possible.
We really don’t want cold students!
Can you ensure they have a top, hat, scarf, gloves, skins or joggers so that they are warm enough!
Many thanks from the PE Department.
There is lots happening in Creative Arts in the coming week! Here’s all the information you need to know:
Choir singing for the Coca Cola Truck
Morpeth Market Square, Thursday 16 November at 4.30pm
Pupils in choir need to meet on Thursday 16th November in the Morpeth Market Square to meet Ms Jones, Mrs Wilson and Mrs Woolley at 4.15pm. They must be accompanied by an adult who will stay to watch the 30 minute performance before collecting your child when they come off stage. Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility of your child at the event.
Children in Need
Friday 17 November, morning
On the Friday morning of Children in Need all pupils, in form classes, will decorate their class cake to their design. The cakes will then be taken to the Chantry Hall where we would have tables up in a large square and they would be displayed as one large cake. Pupils could come and admire after that and then we give cakes back to form teachers to cut and give a slice to pupil in the afternoon.
The ingredients for the cakes, icing (not decoration), boards and cake will be provided by the school however we are asking pupils to bring the rest of the decorations that they need as directed by their form teacher.
We will also have a non-uniform day with a Pudsey theme to raise money for the charity with and optional £1 donation and choir would do their sponsored sing as usual in the Chantry hall in the afternoon to raise funds also.
Drama Club performance of ‘The Conquest of Mopreth’

Well done to Mr Ord and our girls football team who got a mention on the English Schools’ FA website as part of National Girls Football Week.
Check out our PE Twitter account for more details and keep up-to-date with all of our schools’ sporting activities.
We are very proud of the progress the girls are making.
On 30th October, we welcomed Dave Burns into school to talk to all the Year 5 students about Anti-bullying. The children took part in workshops which looked at what kind of people bullies are, why a bully behaves the way they do, the effects of bullying, what to do if you or someone else is being bullied and cyber bullying.
Ella McFetrich said “The anti-bullying workshop was very interesting and explained a lot about the effects of bullying and how it may effect a person’s life. Bullies do it for any reason, something could be happening at home, they could be being bullied themselves or they may just want attention or think it’s cool. I learnt that anyone can be a bully – boys, girls and even adults! I also learnt that a fall out isn’t bullying, it’s just something that happens occasionally.”
Honor Burns said “I learnt that it is better to tell someone if someone else is bullying you, because if you don’t tell anyone you might feel anxious about it. I also learnt that some social media platforms need you to be a certain age to have the app.”
Anna Pratt said “Cyber bullying is when you message people or send silly, or naughty things online. The police can easily get involved and you could get charged.”
Dave will be back in school over the coming months to run different workshops with Year 6, 7 and 8 too.
Congratulations to Ryan who received the Trout Ticklers Chatton Trophy for participating in the fishing events organised throughout the year at Chatton and Thrunton, and catching the most fish!
