In last week’s Citizenship lessons, Year 7s took a look at democracy focusing on the work of The Suffragettes. Kitty in 7S was really inspired by the struggle of those who fought for ‘Votes for Women’ and over the weekend produced her own fact file.
“Emily Wilding Davison is a local heroine and that is one of the reasons I am so interested in the Suffragette’s story. However, I didn’t know until last week that there is a lot of debate as to whether she purposefully threw herself under the King’s horse to draw attention to the campaign or whether she was simply trying to pin a rosette to it. My sister helped me make the fact file and my favourite page is the one with the rosette on – I used the three colours of the Suffragette movement, purple, white and green.”
Well done to Kitty for such an amazing piece of work.
