Championship Title Match: Rebecca Hudson v Emma Lawson: 1-6

15th July 2015J Edwards

finalYear 7’s Rebekah Hudson and Emma Lawson, seeded 8 and 3 respectively, faced one another in this year’s championship match. The tournament this year was mixed and the pair sailed through to the final with ease beating all of their Year 8 male counterparts on the way.

The sun came out for the afternoon and centre court was flooded with Year 7 and Year 5 spectators.

The girls are without doubt two of the most talented players we have ever had grace the final. Their shots were powerful and accurate with both Rebecca and Emma favouring play from the baseline.

The match got off to a steady start with both girls winning their opening service games. However Emma broke service in the third game and although there were several deuces in the following games, Emma proved the stronger competitor on the day winning 6-1.

Miss Said would like to thank all competitors for a fantastic championship. She would also like to give a special thank you to the ball boys and girls who helped out this year and to Mr Nicholson for co-umpiring the final.

See you in 2016 for another enthralling top tennis tournament!

Rugby Report

1st June 2015Mrs K Shutler

Cheviot Final v Kings-2015-04-30-069This year has been hugely successful for the Cheviot rugby team. I have already written about the various successes this year but now the season is officially over I would to congratulate all the boys who represented the U13 school team this year. The trophy cabinet is looking extremely healthy once again after successfully winning The County Cup, The TSSSA Cup and the NSB 7’s.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for their continued commitment and support as well as kind donations throughout the year which includes new playing kit, t-shirts and medals. The school has never been so well supported at home and away fixtures so thank you.

The school is now building its reputation nicely and I am hoping to see a high number of new players training next year. The U12’s started off really well this year but due to lack of fixtures their season ended early. As of September they will be the top team and I am already busy sorting fixtures.

If you have played for the school already or are new to rugby please come along and give it a go because the better the commitment the more fixtures we are able to fulfil.

Finally I would like to thank the Head Teachers, all office staff and all staff members who have supported me this year, your help is always appreciated.
