Year 7’s Alex H, Rebecca and Alex B took part in Round 3 of the French Spelling Bee this week. This was a regional round with schools from all over the North-East competing.
They had one minute to spell as many French as words as possible using the French alphabet, and each performed to the best of their ability. Chantry is proud of all three and is delighted to report that Rebecca came 4th overall and will now compete in the National Final in Cambridge next month. Bravo les petits!
“I thought it was really cool how many people took part from across the region and was impressed that we were part of the finalists. I found the experience of competing in front of so many people quite daunting but I think the adrenalin helped me through.” Alex B
“I enjoyed the challenge of learning so many new words for the competition and was pleased with how well my practise paid off. I am looking forward to helping mentor next year’s Y7 pupils and provide them with a few tips and strategies that I picked up along the way.” Alex H
“I loved being part of Chantry’s team and am really proud of how well I did on the day. I am excited to go on to Round 4 and represent myself and my school in the Nationals. My parents are thrilled with what I have achieved and are backing me all the way”. Rebecca
