We are delighted to announce that Chantry Middle School has been awarded the Gold School Games Sports Mark for 2015-16.

The School Games Sports Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in June 2012. The aim is to reward schools for their commitment to sport and the development of competition across their school, and into the community.

In the past two years, Chantry Middle was awarded the Silver School Games Sports Mark which was a great achievement, acknowledging our commitment to the School Games, and the huge range and quality of sporting opportunities on offer to our pupils.

During 2015-16, we increased our range of extra-curricular sports clubs. We also entered more ‘C’ teams into School Games competitions and tournaments, providing even greater opportunities for more of our pupils to experience competitive sport. We also encouraged a greater number of our pupils to take part in Sports Leadership training and delivery, for example, supporting and leading our feeder first schools in competitions and festivals.

We were really delighted to hear we had been awarded with a School Games Gold Sports Mark in July 2016 for all our hard work.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the Chantry staff who give up their time to run the huge range of lunchtime and after school sports clubs on offer to our pupils, for taking them to competitions, tournaments and matches, for helping to nurture a love of sport and for providing such amazing opportunities for our pupils.

A special thank you to Mrs Grundy for co-ordinating this work – well done!
