Today saw the launch of this year’s Readathon – a whole school initiative which aims to improve the lives of seriously ill children through sponsored reading.
We are encouraging all pupils to join in for the next two weeks and read as much as they can whilst raising money for the following charities: CLIC Sargent, Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and Together for Short Lives.
Pupils can read anything: books, comics, e-books, magazines, fiction, non-fiction …. the list is endless. All that we ask is that they ask family and friends to sponsor them in their reading. Any amount raised will be fantastic All pupils will receive a Sponsor Card which contains full details on how to complete. If you are sponsoring, please don’t forget to fill in all the details for Gift Aid – this enables the charities to claim an additional 25% from the Government.
The event will run for two weeks starting on Monday 16th March. Sponsor money should be brought into school (along with the sponsor card) no later than Friday 17th April.
To encourage our pupils, we shall also be holding a book swap. From Monday 16th March, pupils can bring in any unwanted books and receive a book token in exchange for every book. During the following week, book tokens can be exchanged at our breaktime book swap. Better to recycle old books rather than gather dust on a shelf!
Please support Chantry pupils in ensuring that we make a difference to other children’s lives.
