Our MFL department played host to Claire Brown and Grace Dodds before the Easter break. As primary teaching students at Newcastle University, they spent a few days in Chantry to see how languages are taught in our school. They then did some German taster sessions for some of our Year 6 and 7 pupils.
“Our Languages placement at Chantry was a really fun and informative experience. We were able to observe the teaching of a variety of different languages then teach our own German lessons! The children were all incredibly enthusiastic about the sessions and did extremely well – it is clear they enjoy learning different languages. I now feel more confident about teaching MFL myself, and look forward to doing so in my next placement.” Claire Brown.
Amy Sparham, Y6: “I enjoyed learning a bit of German, particularly how to greet people in different situations.”
Jay Pearson, Y7: “We currently do French and Spanish so it was great to add a third language into the mix. Sehr gut!”
Lewis Beattie, Y6: “I think knowing how to speak other languages is a really useful skill to have. I would like to go travelling when I am older and be able to talk to people in French or German.”
