What an amazing privilege it was for a chosen few of Chantry Student Parliament to be invited to the unveiling of the new Emily Wilding Davison statue situated in Carlisle Park, Morpeth.
Our Students stood ringside to the ceremony which boasted speeches by Penni Blythe and the Duchess of Northumberland.
The students also got to meet Ray Lonsdale the Sculpture. His other creations include ‘Tommy’ in Seaham and ‘Freddie’ in Scarborough.
Chantry Students were also asked to design and create a mural to commemorate Emily. With the help of Chantry Arts Award students and the direction of Mrs Rabey-Wilson, the three piece artwork was designed. The mural is now in pride of place within Carlisle Park and is a stunning and remarkable piece of art which will be on show for years to come.
