Safer Internet Day 2016

9th February 2016J Edwards

Harvey&MollySafer Internet Day gets hundreds of organisations involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policy makers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet. Ultimately, a better internet is up to us!

The theme of this year’s event is: Play your part for a better internet.  At Chantry, we are using the day to inspire a kind, respectful and inclusive internet, and help raise awareness about the issue of online hate. We are getting involved in the #shareaheart social media campaign to help inspire kindness online.

Sainsburys-Active-KidsWe are again collecting for Sainsburys Active Kids vouchers.
If you shop at Sainsburys you can collect these vouchers as you shop.
If you then bring them to school and put them in our collection box, in the main foyer, we can then put the final total towards PE equipment!
In the past we have been able to get invaluable resources through this scheme.
Thank you

Book Fair 2016

2nd February 2016L Dickinson

IMG_4409This year’s Book Fair has been exceptional! Our children’s enthusiasm and good humour – despite the crush – have been incomparable. At break times, the library was so full it wasn’t possible to take pictures!

Takings are up on our previous best by an extraordinary 30%. What more can we say except, “THANKYOU!” Thanks to your tremendous generosity and support, our week long annual Book Fair has exceeded our wildest expectations with a grand total of £2603.01! This has raised a magnificent in £1,554.00 commission, which will be spent on books and resources to stimulate literacy and a love of reading throughout school.

It was a real pleasure to meet those of you who were able to visit the Fair after school! We do hope that you enjoyed the opportunity of discussing the titles on sale and making your selection in a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you very much for coming!

As we sold out of dinosaur, cubic and sputnik rubbers and to ensure that no one is left disappointed, new supplies will be on sale every break time this week!

Book Swap

1st February 2016Mrs K Shutler

booksIf you have any spare books at home which are now not used, we would hugely appreciate them to start up a book swapping club.

This will give students the chance to choose their own book which will hopefully make it more appealing to read.

It also saves books being read and then gathering dust or being thrown away when someone else could enjoy it.

Could any books be brought in to Mr Ord.

Thank you in advance and thanks to all those who have already kindly donated.
