The Rocky Monster Show

3rd April 2017L Dickinson

IMG_0295Monday 19th June – 6:30pm, Tuesday 20th June – 6:30pm

Performances in Chantry Hall.

Pupils at Newminster and Chantry have been rehearsing ready to perform the musical ‘The Rocky Monster Show’ in June.

Tickets will be available for the ‘The Rocky Monster Show’ performances at the school offices from Monday 15th May (strictly morning break times only). The tickets are priced at £4 adult and £3 child / OAP.

About the ‘The Rocky Monster Show’…

Bizarre, anarchic and very funny, this Rock ‘n’ Roll musical is a riotous mix of the Addams Family, Young Frankenstein and Phantom of the Opera, with Rebecca and The Rocky Horror Show thrown in for good measure!

Baron Frankenstein’s descendant, and ex-pop star turned professor of Genetics, creates DNA moulds of people in his computer. How these moulds come to life as the ultimate Rock Group, headed by a clone of Elvis himself is the highlight of the hilarious plot.

More traditional monsters also add spice to the explosive mixture. Audience and cast will love the Rock ‘n’ Roll score, much of which is an affectionate send-up of the 60’s.

Bravo les enfants!

29th March 2017Mrs K Shutler

Congratulations to Alex H, Rebecca and Alex B in Year 7 who were our winners of the French Spelling Bee Round Two.

These students successfully spelt the most French words – using the French alphabet – from a list of 100 in one minute.

They move onto the regional heat of the competition in May where they will face competitors from schools all over the North-East.

In previous years, we have had pupils from Chantry make it through to the Nationals in Cambridge so fingers crossed we can repeat that success.  Bravo to all of our competitors who took part in the nail-biting heats.

Newminster and Chantry Middle Schools dance for Red Nose Day!

24th March 2017L Dickinson

IMG_1776On Friday 24th March at 11:10am, students, teachers and staff from Newminster and Chantry Middle School in Morpeth put on their dancing shoes in support of Red Nose Day 2017.

This was the biggest fundraiser that Newminster and Chantry Middle Schools have ever done. Over the past few months, students and staff have been busy planning, practising and perfecting their two dances. Over 1000 students performed their dances to Olly Murs’ ‘Dance with Me Tonight’ and ‘Shut Up and Dance’ by Walk the Moon which were chosen by student voice. The dances had been choreographed by year 8 students.

The day itself was packed with fun and fundraising, with the whole school community getting involved to help Comic Relief and have fun on Red Nose Day 2017 including a bake sale, pennies used to create the school crest and the whole schools sponsored dances which was filmed by a drone.

Please watch BBC LOOK NORTH tonight for footage of our fundraising efforts for Comic Relief!

Click ‘continue reading’ for images of the dance and a message from the Head of School and students.
