Is Toys R Us going down?

15th March 2018Mrs K Shutler

Toys R Us has put about 30,000 jobs under threat and is failing to find a buyer meaning they will either sell or close all their 885 stores in the US. Could we be next?

Sadly, estimations from official Toys R Us owners conclude that we may have all our stores closed down by the end of April, but why is it happening?

The American giant has been filed for bankruptcy in September 2017 meaning hundreds of stores are having to close or be sold. Toys R Us are also currently trying to sell most of their worldwide businesses but countries such as: Spain, Portugal, France, Poland and Australia are still considering their options in this tragic event!

‘We have made every effort to secure a buyer for all or part of the company’s business. This process attracted some interest, but ultimately no party has been able to move forward with a formal bid prior to the expiration of the stated deadline.’ said Simon Thomas (The Guardian).

SATs Revision Tips

15th March 2018Mrs K Shutler

As you probably already know, the SATs will be starting very soon and the Year 6s will have to revise for their tests. Well, I did my SATs last year and got a pretty good score thanks to these tips!

First of all, whenever you have the free time, get out your practice tests and well… practice! Your teachers gave you those tests so that you can get the hang of the type of questions that will be in the real thing.

Secondly, listen very well in class. You should already be doing this but if you’re not, your overall score will drop by quite a bit. There will be no point at all for your teachers telling you about all these things if you don’t even listen!

Finally, just try your best. Even if you struggle in class and don’t think you can do it, nothing is wrong with trying your best and working your hardest. I’m sure if you do, you will get a very good score!
