At Chantry Middle School, one of the Student Voice’s objectives is to become involved with our community and strive to help those less fortunate than ourselves.  Pupils regularly contribute towards charities through fund-raising activities but we would like to ask for your help through a donation of a different kind.

Food bankAt the time of Harvest, the Chantry Student Voice would like to help The Wansbeck Food project – a new charity based in the Wansbeck and Morpeth districts for which Chantry is one of the first schools to become involved with.

Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. The Food Bank will provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to such people in our region.

We are hoping that every pupil will be able to bring in at least one item to donate the organisation and help bring a bit of comfort to those who need it.  All donations should be brought into school before Thursday 23rd October and must be non-perishable such as:

  • Instant coffee, teabags and sugar
  • Breakfast cereals (not porridge)
  • Tinned and packet soups
  • Tinned fruit, vegetables, meat and fish
  • Tinned desserts
  • Long-life milk and fruit juice
  • Biscuits and snack bars
  • Sauces and dried herbs
  • Rice and pasta

More information about the charity can be found at http://www.trusselltrust.org/foodbank-projects .  With your help, we can make a real difference to somebody’s day.  We hope you will be able to help.
