Bonjour! In French this year we have been learning and spelling everyday words in French. We had to learn 50 words in French for the first round then our French teacher, Madame Said, would say an English word and we would have to spell it in French using the French alphabet. We were timed for a minute and we had to see how many words we would get. We (Rebecca and Amrit) got through to round 2 where we had to learn 50 more words so we have had to learn 100 words!

The second round is today! Now that we have just finished the second round, we have had a chance to talk to her. Click ‘continue reading’ to see what Madame said.

Us: Do you enjoy doing spelling bee?

Madame Said: Yes, pupils get a lot out of it and it is exciting to see them progress with their French.

Us: Has Chantry won the competition before?

Madame Said: We entered the competition four years ago. It was our first year and we got to the national final

Us: Is there a prize if you get through to the next round?

Madame Said: Yes- an edible one!

Us: What scores did we get?

Madame Said: It’s a secret!

We really enjoyed spelling bee this year and it has really improved our French. We hope to get through to the next round!
