On 4th December, we welcomed Dave Burns into school to talk to all the Year 6 students about ‘Staying Safe on the Streets’. The children took part in workshops which looked at mobile phone safety, stranger danger, social media, the law, the importance of keeping in contact with your parents/guardians, peer pressure and the law.

Dave Burn is a ‘Be Safe’ trainer. ‘Be Safe’ works in partnership with the Home Office to provide workshops in schools and colleges where they can access young people. Since 2009 Be Safe North East has educated over 50,000 children and young people.

Izzy said “It was really interesting because we could see how easily people could steal mobile phones.”

Ben H said “It was amusing but also very serious because it showed how easily people can end up in trouble.”

Luke said “It was interesting because you found out about people stole phones and how not to wave your phone around in public areas.”
