Some of our Year 7 linguists took a trip to the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle for a Spanish film study day. The movie was 1973’s El Espiritu de la Colmena (Spirit of the Beehive), which looks at the lives of two young sisters after seeing the movie Frankenstein.
“It was a unique experience seeing a foreign film on the big screen. Although it wasn’t my type of film, it was quite thought-provoking and left me wondering what happened next.” Archie Rigby
“I really enjoyed the film. It was completely different to what I was expecting and unlike most movies I have seen. I understood the plot well but couldn’t decipher the hidden meanings behind the scenes.” Lydia Fraser
“The workshops after the film were quite challenging in terms of the Spanish used. However, one of the activities was based on describing the main characters which I could do well as we have covered this topic in class.” Kitty Kilmurray
And now for the Spanish reviews…
Sam Porteous
