As part of our DLE carousel, year 7 students get the opportunity to learn life saving skills through 6 weekly sessions of first aid lead by Mrs Wilson.
During the lessons students gain an understanding of key principles of first aid from how to make and emergency call to administering CPR and bandaging different types of wounds.
The students are visited by Mrs Carrick, a member of Newcastle’s RVI Trauma Team, who talks to the students about careers in a hospital environment as well as providing demonstrations of CPR, recovery position and how to deal with a person who is choking.
The sessions are a hands on, interactive way of learning and students not only enjoy these sessions but find they are gaining skills for life.
