Marking Remembrance at Chantry Middle School

During the afternoon of Friday 9^th November all pupils from Chantry attended our annual school Remembrance Day Assembly. Pupils from both Year 7 and 8 took an active role as part of this assembly by either helping to make the 4 poppy wreaths that were put on display (one for each of the school houses), lay each of the wreaths on the poppy cascade, writing poems about Remembrance as well as bravely reading their poems out in assembly. One pupil who attended this assembly said that it made them feel “grateful” and and they wanted to say “thank you to all the men and women who served in the Armed Forces as well as those who remained at home helping the war effort.” Another said that it made them “realise how lucky we are today.”

We would like to say thank you to Val from the Mustard Tree Trust for taking the time to join us at Chantry and lead this special assembly and thank the people from the Morpeth Antiquarians for allowing use to use their poppy cascade as part of our assembly. Finally a big thank you goes to all the pupils who help to sell poppies on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
