Year 7 had a fantastic week at PGL’s Ford Castle, Northumberland back in June. Being away from home for for 3 nights was a challenge for some pupils but due to the days being non-stop, there was not a chance to miss home comforts for too long.

The pupils were an absolute credit to the school for the entire week showing excellent team work, resilience and courage as they tackled any challenge put in their way. Activities included Jacob’s ladders, trapeze, survivor, zip line, archery, orienteering, problem solving and vertical challenge.

We had glorious sunshine, torrential rain and even a fire alarm at 11.30pm to contend with but the children took it all in their stride and smiled and laughed throughout.

A fantastic week was had by all and experiences that hopefully they will remember for years to come

Oli said ‘I enjoyed teaching Ms Mackenzie and Mrs Irving how to play Chess in Ford Castle. The shop was also really good!’

Sophia said ‘My favourite activity was Jacob’s ladder because it was so much fun!’

Robyn said ‘I really enjoyed the night time activity called Splash! We had to make a protective cover for our water balloons. At the end we got to throw the balloons that had survived at Ms Mackenzie which was really funny!’

Logan said ‘I really liked sharing the rooms with all of my friends. We had so much fun! On the second night we had a pillow fight and Mr Hutchinson walked in’

Josh said ‘I was shaking at the top of the zipline but it was mint. I want to do it again!’

Lexie said ‘I liked the night time activity called Capture the Flag where we worked in teams to stop the other team getting our flag to their side of the pitch. Mr Hutchinson was definitely cheating though!’
