On Tuesday 25th November The Morpeth Partnership of Schools came together for an amazing spectacle of a concert at the Sage Gateshead.
The Partnership consisted of The King Edward VI High School, Chantry and Newminster Middle Schools along with 15 other First and Middle Schools. It was truly a sight to behold. Eager smiling faces singing and playing their hearts out to an audience of over 1100 people.
The theme was music from the movies with KEVI Community Jazz Band kicking the show off to a magnificent start, conducted by Mr Forbes, our new joint Middle School Samba Band, and Steel pans getting everyone in the mood, followed by a medley of songs from the musical Bugsy Malone sung by the joint First and Middle School’s Choir, conducted by our very own Mrs Wilson. The First half ended with a mass choir performance from all schools involved of ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman?’ and ‘Let it Go’ from the popular Disney film Frozen.
Many of the audience stayed in their seats during the interval as they waited in anticipation for the second half of the show to begin and they weren’t disappointed. Another stunning display of musical talent followed from the likes of the Ceilidh Band, KEVI Community Orchestra and KEVI choir who sang two fabulous numbers from Les Miserables. The concert ended with a bang with all 17 schools participating in ‘Thank You for the Music’ and ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’. We raised the roof with our fantastic singing, playing and dance moves!
It was a proud moment for everyone involved and we thank all the parents for their support and allowing the children to take part in such a momentous concert. Well Done to everyone! Another musical success and we hope we can do the same again in the future.
