Morpeth Town lift the FA Vase

31st May 2016L Dickinson

IMG_2538 (1)Congratulations to Morpeth Town for winning the FA Vase against Hereford United last Sunday at Wembley.

Supporters of all ages ascended on Wembley to cheer on the Highwaymen and what an amazing day it was, with Morpeth Town winning 4 – 1. We are particularly proud of Adam Swann who was escorted Sean Taylor onto the pitch – what a fantastic experience. I am sure his family are very proud of him! Adam also welcomed the team back to Morpeth on Monday evening and can be seen with team captain, Keith Graydon and chairman, Ken Beattie. He even got his hands on the trophy himself!

I am sure that everyone associated with Morpeth Town are very proud to be Morpethians and wish them all the best for next season. Surely this will also inspire students from Chantry to live their dream – well done lads!

Fishing at Thrunton – Saturday 14th May

24th May 2016L Dickinson

FullSizeRender (2)What a day! The sun was shining, the fish were jumping and the lodge at Thrunton was full of Trout Ticklers eager to go! Students from Chantry and Newminster arrived with their parents in tow for what was to be a great morning’s fishing.

We monopolised the top bank of the far lake where we all stood, casting our flies into the murky depths . Four instructors were on hand and in no time at all, the students were casting like professionals. The parents were very positive about the day and commented on the facilities and service we received from Thrunton Fisheries. Sport was slow but started to pick up near the end with two trout taken.

Well done to Elliot G, who caught a 2lb fish, which he returned to the water, and to Scott A, who also caught a 2lb fish, who was taken home to eat for supper!

Well done to everyone who attended and special mention to; Chloe H – a stalwart TT member and very enthusiastic! Nathaniel H – a very determined caster! Conall F – an excitable fisher! Joseph J – great casting, in a great spot, great determination – better luck next time.

It is hoped there will be a further opportunity to fish at Thrunton on Saturday 25th June – watch this space for further information!

Trout Ticklers

Guten Tag und Auf Wiedersehen

23rd May 2016L Dickinson

german flagFor the past week, Chantry welcomed Tina Roth into our classrooms.  Tina is a German teacher in Stuttgart who came over to see the differences and similarities between school life here and in her home town.

“I’m grateful I got the chance to spend time with everyone at Chantry. First of all, I was highly impressed by the equipment and technology in every classroom.  Unfortunately, my students don’t have access to interactive whiteboards so it was refreshing to see all of the resources that the teachers use via this medium.

Year 5 trip to Kielder

12th May 2016L Dickinson

IMG_1528Year Five students have had yet another successful trip to Hawkhirst, Kielder.  In total a record number of 98 children attended the residential trip and were treated to an action packed 4 days of activities including climbing, abseiling, bellboating and shelter building.  We took over the entire centre and 12 pupils were treated to 3 nights under canvas in the centre’s new Tented Village – a great experience!

The Scout Association once again provided an amazing service with excellent food, great accommodation and a wide variety of well-organised activities that challenged all pupils.  It is truly rewarding for the staff to see so many pupils push themselves beyond their limits and achieve so much.

Thank you to those parents who gave up their time to join the trip, and also to the many kind messages received since returning.  No doubt, many families had a peaceful night on Friday as their children collapsed early into bed – the staff certainly did!
