Year 6 pupils at Chantry Middle School in Morpeth have recently been carrying out fundraising in support of The Costa Foundation. The pupils, aged 10-11, have been learning about the charity on Friday afternoons and they have become inspired by the good work carried out. As a result the pupils came up with some fantastic innovative and creative ideas as they were keen to play their part in raising funds.
In order for the project to be successful a community link with Costa Coffee on Bridge Street, Morpeth, was established. The pupils’ success was unprecedented and due to their unrivaled enthusiasm they raised over £250!

The pinnacle to the project was having Costa Coffee come into the school to sell cakes and hot chocolates, with the generous support of The Mighty Oaks charity, who many will have seen in the Market Square of Morpeth on a Saturday night. The excitement of having Costa Coffee in school for a lunchtime was evident amongst the staff and pupils as we managed to raise an astonishing £280 for the charity meaning that the project overall made £530 – a cracking effort by a group of young people.
This project is now set to be repeated over the academic year with other groups and Chantry Middle School, Costa Coffee and The Mighty Oaks charity are looking forward to cementing their community links further.
